CHARACTER — Joel Miller
CANON — The Last of Us (HBO series only / I haven't played the games so my portrayal of Joel / canon lore is strictly based off of the show!)
CANONPOINT — Flexible. I can go pre-canon, sometime during canon, or post-canon. Also forever here for any AU shenanigans; I'm down to clown.
BIRTHDAY — September 26
AGE — 56 (can vary depending on canonpoint, AU, etc.)
PHYSICAL — Tall and well-built, physically quite strong and capable. Dark brown eyes, dark brown hair & beard, greying. Typically seen in blue-jean or flannel button-downs, jeans, and hiking boots, often with a jacket over. Has a scar on his belly from a stab wound, and one on his temple from being grazed by a gunshot. Always wears a broken watch on his wrist.
VOICE — Quiet, gruff, controlled. Deep. There's a southern drawl around the edges, but not too pronounced. Comes out more when he's emphatic about something. Rarely raises his voice, but when he does start roaring like a bear, you're in trouble.
WARNINGS — This character comes from a survival horror series that involves a good deal of dark themes: global pandemic / civilisation ending / post-apocalyptic world ; a fungal infection with themes / behaviours that can commonly be associated with zombies ; dark human behaviour (raiders, slavers, etc.). Warnings for Joel himself include: familial grief / loss / child death ; mental illness (PTSD, anxiety, depression); suicidal ideation / attempted & failed suicide ; a whole lot of trauma ; extreme violence (he's brutally killed and tortured people both "deserving" and "innocent" and he'd do it again!!!)
BACKTAGGING — Absolutely; I run on the slow side through the week and frequently live the backtag life. That said, I'm always good with handwaving & dropping old threads as needed.
THREADHOPPING — If all parties are cool, go for it.
FOURTHWALLING — I don't see this coming up much and really don't mind if it does, but probably just give me a heads' up if your character is a fourthwaller.
FORMATTING — I default to brackets but am just fine with prose, and will go along with whatever my threading partners prefer!
PHYSICAL CONTACT — oocly totally fine with it, but icly just a heads' up that Joel is pretty cagey. Reactions would vary depending on who exactly is doing the touching and just what type it is, and he wouldn't hesitate to get aggressive if someone unfavourable gets too close.
ROMANCE/SHIPPING — I'm down for this, though with Joel it would inevitably be extremely slowburn / complicated / etc. I'm down for canon ships (my heart for Tess, and I'd love to do AUs where she lived, etc.) or cross canon! I can roll with most ships and enjoy seeing how things go organically, so if you'd like to try something, I'm down.
NON-ROMANTIC INTIMACY — Joel isn't one to dive into this much, but we can always finagle a scenario where it'd happen (one night stands, drunk shenanigans, Depressed & Lonesome Horniness, etc.) I'm fine playing things out, or fading to black and writing out what comes after, whatever you like!
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE — Down for it, with the heads up that Joel can be very violent and is quite skilled with both arms and in close combat. He's also extremely comfortable using his stature to his advantage and can pretty easily immobilise people. Obviously I'm cool if others could be a match for him, and he's certainly only human / is also getting up there in years, so he's not invincible by any means. But he is a very tough guy and absolutely won't hesitate to get brutal and even kill if he needs to.
MAGIC, POWERS, ETC. — I'm fine with characters using their powers on Joel / reading his mind / etc. We can definitely plan details in advance if needed.
